Not only do children enjoy organized and unstructured play time, new friends, and outdoor adventures, studies show summer camp can boost a child’s self-confidence and help grow their sense of independence. Camp Greenwell and its specialty camps offer all of this in an inclusive and accessible setting designed for all children at Greenwell State Park in St. Mary's County.

Greenwell makes it easy to give the gift of camp with Camp Bucks. Greenwell Camp Bucks are available in any denomination and make the perfect birthday present for a child in your life.

Consider helping send a less fortunate child to camp. Learn more >>

Registration open now through Feb. 15 for Spring Horseback Riding Session. Read more >>

Children look for birds during Nature Time session

Grant Allows Nature Time to Reach Hundreds of Local Children

Every week, children come to Greenwell's Nature Time program to enjoy the wonders of nature through exploration, observation, games, crafts and stories. Recently, children have learned about birds using binoculars to view and making nests; learned about spiders making "webs" from yarn; and dressed in camouflage for a game of animal hide-n-seek to learn how animals use color to hide from predators.

The children come to Nature Time with a parent or a caregiver. But did you know that every child who attends a Head Start center in St. Mary's County gets this same experience? Thanks to a generous grant from the PNC Foundation, 220 children explore the wonders of nature at Greenwell every month. Funding helps Greenwell offer this program to Head Start free of charge, and the children get a head start on environmental education while learning about our natural world.

The generosity of the PNC Foundation and of people like you have a direct impact on the lives of children in our community. Read more >>
