Greenwell State Park is located in St. Mary's County in Southern Maryland. The park is open year-round from sunrise to sunset. (Check the status of park operations at School'sOut.com.) A $3.00 per vehicle service fee helps offset operating costs.

Fishing Fishing is allowed from the pier and the revetment overlooking the Patuxent River. A sports fishing license for people over 16 years of age is required.
Crabbing Crabbing is allowed from the pier. Only those of legal size may be kept.
Swimming Swimming is allowed from the two beach areas only. There is no lifeguard on duty.
Kayaking | Canoeing Launch your kayak or canoe from the beach areas and from Quarter Creek, site of an accessible floating dock. Only non-motorized craft allowed. Be sure to explore Greenwell's River Riders kayaking program.
Hiking | Horseback Riding | Bicycling The 600-acre park has a diverse array of habitat and topography including two miles of Patuxent River shoreline and approximately 10 miles of trails, including two shoreline trails. The River and Orange trails are open only to hikers. Park map and trail guide
Picnicking Picnic tables and barbeques are available throughout the park. The Quarter Creek Pavilion is open for public use when not reserved for events.
